Windows Phone Marketplace has achieved the 50,000 app milestone earlier today. This achievement follows on the heels of Microsoft’s recent 40,000 app milestone just one month ago. Reports state that, “over 17,000 apps have been submitted to the Marketplace in the last 90-days from over 13,000 different publishers” (All About Windows Phone). Though these numbers are slight in comparison to the Apple Appstore and the Android Market, Windows continues to pick up steam as they roll into the new year. With numerous Windows Phones expecting to launch in 2012, we expect that the Windows Phone Marketplace will continue to grow. Sorry BlackBerry, looks like your seat at the smartphone table has now been revoked.
