BlackBerry 10: Looks To Make BlackBerry Cool Again.

BlackBerry 10: Looks To Make BlackBerry Cool Again.

RIM, the makers of BlackBerry finally gave fans a sneak peak at their upcoming BlackBerry 10 phone which can be seen above. Gone are the smaller screens with a full keyboard and in it’s place is a fully functional touch screen. Here is a quick teaser video of what BlackBerry 10 devices will look like:

While the devices you see in the picture are only developer devices and may never be released in to the public, I have to tip my hat to RIM for finally stepping into this decade. But the true question is, is it too late? Apple and Android have compactly taken over the smartphone game leaving little room for anyone else. While a full revamping is possible, which Microsoft did with their Windows Mobile Phones, we will just have to wait and see how RIM plans satisfy their loyal BlackBerry customers while gaining new ones.

Either way, BlackBerry may have just gotten cool again. Let us know what you think in the comments below.

BlackBerry 10 Coming This Fall?

BlackBerry 10 Coming This Fall?

RIM, the company that owns BlackBerry has been pretty mum on details concerning BlackBerry 10 but a recently leaked roadmap has shined a little light on the dark areas. No official date has been released or announced but by looking at the roadmap we can see what RIM has in mind for upcoming BlackBerry releases and then play the guessing game as to when we should see BlackBerry 10.

We foresee RIM releasing BlackBerry 10 sometime in October or November based off previously stated timeframes for it’s release. This is purely speculation but we imagine that RIM does not want to get overshadowed by the release of the new iPhone which will most likely be making a later sumer/fall debut as well.

According to the most recent Nielson report, 49.7 percent of U.S. Mobile subscribers now own a smartphone, an increase of 38 percent over last year. The trend is continuing to grow as more than two-thirds of those who acquired a new mobile device in the last three months chose a smartphone over a feature phone.

In the U.S. Android continues to lead the way with a 48 percent market share, Apple has a 32 percent share, Rim follows with 12 percent, with everyone else making up the remaining 8 percent. If you would like to get additional information check the  full Nielsen report.

iPhone 5 To Feature 3D Camera?

iPhone 5 To Feature 3D Camera?

With Apple constantly looking to push the envelope when it comes to their products we can only speculate as to what the iPhone 5 will feature. Apple has recently filed a patent for a 3D imaging camera and it can mean a series of things. Patents are filed all the time by big corporations and that does not necessarily mean that these ideas will ever be used in a finished product, however, 3D imaging would be something that Apple could very well include in the next edition of the iPhone.

If Apple does decide to implement a 3D camera on the new iPhone, this will put the camera on the levels of some point-and-shoot cameras, such as Nikon.  Not only could Apple place 3D abilities in the camera but image if Apple used this same technology on the visuals layouts of the iPhone. HTC first made an attempt with the EVO 3D but the idea was not fully developed and customers did not truly care for the 3D notion, however, in the smartphone world six months to a year is enough time to establish a new trend and swing customers opinion on new innovative technology.

Face Unlock

With a 3D capable camera, Apple would be able to take the idea of Google’s Face Unlock and bring it to the next level. Google’s Face Unlock allows your phone to recognize your face and unlock itself, the problem is a simply picture of you can unlock the phone. With a 3D camera, it is possible that a similar facial recognition software can be written to eliminate problems that Google faced when unveiling Face Unlock.

Possibilities

What a 3D camera could do for the smartphone market is unimaginable. Smartphone makers would be scrambling to one up the iPhone and the customers are the ones who will greatly benefit from this type innovation. Though this may be a rumor or another speculation, we can not sleep on the idea because the technology is here. It’s no longer a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.
